The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ—the first being the Bible. It was written by ancient prophets who lived in the Americas on golden plates. Centuries later, it was translated by the power of God through Joseph Smith.

Because the Book of Mormon was written by people with imperfections, it contains some grammatical errors. Moroni, the son of Mormon and the last prophet to write in it, said:

“And whoso receiveth this record, and shall not condemn it because of the imperfections which are in it, the same shall know of greater things than these… and if there be faults they be the faults of a man” (Moroni 8:12, 17).

Some people read the Book of Mormon looking for grammatical errors—and they will find them. These human mistakes might distract unbelievers from its true purpose. However, anyone who studies the Book of Mormon with a sincere desire to know if it is true, who ponders its teachings and prays with real intent, will receive a witness from the Holy Ghost. That witness will testify of a loving Heavenly Father, of Jesus Christ as our Savior, and of God’s plan for our happiness—the Plan of Salvation.

I have read the Book of Mormon, and I know that minor grammatical errors do not take away from the truth it teaches: that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, the King of kings. He gave His life for us so we can be healed, forgiven, and resurrected. I know He lives, and I know the Book of Mormon is true. I know it.

Reading the Book of Mormon will open your understanding to the purpose of your life and your eternal destiny. I invite you to read it with an open mind and a sincere heart, with the desire to know the truth. I know you will find the treasures it holds—especially for you.
